Author Biography

Professor Mario Mancini achieved his medical doctor degree at the University Medical School of Naples, Italy as well as postgraduate degrees in internal medicine and in cardiology. He continued his training at the Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene, Public Health School, University of Minnesota, USA and at the Department of Internal Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital and Royal Postgraduate School of Medicine, London, UK.

He then became Professor of Applied Biochemistry and subsequently Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Naples. He was appointed full Professor of Medicine at the Federico II University Medical School in Naples, where he is currently chairman of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine.

He has been the chairman of the Advisory Scientific Board of the World Heart Federation and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Disease, which he founded in 1990. He has published approximately 500 scientific papers on clinical nutrition and cardiovascular medicine.
